https://Voice.club - I was too young to remember of course, but I was told that the entire kingdom came to my christening. Knights and ladies, cobblers and stable boys - everyone danced, made toasts, and gave me gifts. Handmade lace, tiny shoes with silver buckles, a butterfly mobile carefully carved and painted. “Twas a day of great rejoicing,” my mother told me.
But no christening is complete without prophecies from the other world.
Three fairies appeared from nowhere, gossamer wings shimmering with color.
“Illuminaura,” the youngest fairy introduced herself.
“Marrywell,” the second fairy sang out in a melodious voice.
“Cursefoil,” the third fairy hissed menacingly.
Then each foretold my future.
“I give thee light and happiness and a joyful childhood,” Illuminaura smiled.
“I give thee love and devotion from your very own Prince Charming.” Marrywell’s gift greatly pleased all the ladies.
Cursefoil glared at the crowd, then caught my eye. “Light and happiness you shall have, love and devotion you shall have. But not for long! On your thirtieth birthday, forces of darkness shall surround your castle, and all within shall be destroyed. I give thee … Armageddon!”
My father, the King, rose to strike her, my mother clasped me close and wept. But as quickly as they had appeared, the three fairies were gone.
No had ever challenged an evil fairy before, but my father was determined. In that very moment he formulated a plan.
Sages and seers, mystics and miracle workers, diviners and divine - my father brought the wisest men and women in the world to live with us and teach us the ancient art of magick. My girlhood was not only happy, it was highly instructive! By the time I married my Prince Charming and gave birth to our first child, I was no longer afraid of Cursefoil’s prophecy. She seemed a weakling compared to the teachers I grew up with.
On my thirtieth birthday, the entire kingdom once again filled our castle. We had been taught that Cursefoil’s magick only worked if we believed in her, and now none of us did!
On the stroke of midnight we heard an eerie wailing and saw colored lights flashing, then dying. Cursefoil was no more!
