I had an idea for a prompt for free contest. Cheating. This could be based on one cheating life, cheating on a spouse or significant other, in academics, sports or being vindictive. It could make for some really interesting situations/stories?!?!
@DeborahGoulding - That’s a great idea for a very cool prompt - “Cheating” - sounds like tons of interesting stories could be developed from your new prompt!

Also, we are launching the new writing collab event soon! We think VIP member @MargaridaBrei suggested a prompt for the new collab but can’t remember. Do you by chance remember the prompt she wanted on the next writing collab?
Thank you for using my suggestion “Cheating” for the next prompt. I’m honored. It will spark many imaginative stories and I look forward to reading and listening to each one! I do not know of a prompt suggested by Margarida for the next collab. I hope she remembers this as it will surely be an exciting one! I will have to ponder my imagination to execute a worthy “Cheating” story. Limitless ideas and many directions this could go!

My second prompt suggestion is “Nintai” - a Japanese concept meaning patience, endurance, perseverance, or steadfastness in the face of difficulties. It is the ability to endure hardship.
I have a question. I have a story that is too long that I’m rewriting and self editing for the next prompt “Cheating”. Do you have a suggestion for how I can submit this story another way? In 2 parts? Thank you for any feedback.
That’s a great question @DeborahGoulding - and the quick answer is yes. In fact, @MargaridaBrei also asked about submitting long stories, and so we have ensured that VIP members can submit long stories that are broken into multiple parts. This applies to all sections of the Voice Club including the free contest!
We ask that you keep the title of all story segments the same, except for adding " - Part 1", “Part 2”, “Part 3”, etc…
The timing of your question is great, because we are just now upgrading the VIP contest entry form to include a dropdown option for a story with multiple segments!
NEXT STEP: Go ahead and prepare your segmented contest story, but please don’t submit the segments until we reply and let you know the new entry form is ready
NOTE to Non-Subscribers - Only VIPs have the option to submit long stories in multiple segments. If you are a free member, the first story you submit into the contest will be reviewed, but any additional story submissions into the same contest will be deleted.
Thank you very much for this information. I do have 1 more question regarding the free contest. May I submit a 2 part story to the “Contest”? Or only 1 part per contest? Yes, I will wait until it’s up and running.

Hi - @DeborahGoulding - Yes, since you are a VIP, you may submit a two-part (or more / multi-part) story to the free writing contest This option is only available to our VIP members, so have fun writing, and we look forward to your new stories!

Entering Mult-Part stories:
When you submit your entry, in order to see the new VIP form, please make sure to click the button labeled: VIP Members Submit Voice Recording - OR - Text Only
After you have selected this VIP submission path option, you will see the new form with a new question: “Is this story stand-alone or part of a series?”
You should now be able to submit your multi-part story.

Will the total amount of words for the multi part story be no more than 350 words?
@MargaridaBrei - For the free contest, under “Step 1”, there are two submission buttons you can choose: One for “Free Members” and one for “VIP members”
If you don’t see the new form, then you probably chose the “Free Members” path. For the free contest, under “Step 1”, make sure and choose the “VIP Members” button.
Each individual submission should always follow the standard word count - Max 350 words.
However, VIP members can submit multi-part stories in multiple submissions, for example: You can send two separate submissions to the free contest, Part 1 and Part 2, your final story could be around 700 words.This means that essentially the total word count is not limited for VIP members.
