Yes, Brandon is the next victim. When I wrote the story I thought of Giovanni as someone who had a shop in the area for years. So, people might not ‘know’ him personally, but are familiar with him, and therefore think of him as a safe person to chat to and to accept a coffee invitation 
That’s scary. Trust no one; it is the safest way out of trouble like that.
