All eyes and ears were gazing at Terra Mater, and on this solemn occasion, no signs of sympathy could be seen in the room. For hundreds of years, Terra had lodged protests with the universal council, requesting more time, and insisting that the “Humans deserved another few hundred years to evolve, grow up, and mature”, but today, she was exhausted, and this decision by the council would be final.
“Guilty.” As the verdict was read, audible gasps and rumbling filled the air, and continued as the charges and punishment were noted. “The human race has been found guilty as charged, for the heinous crime involving thousands of years of abusive and destructive behavior towards the Goddess Terra Mater, our dear Mother Earth. The punishment will be a swift extermination and total extinction.”
Terra had long dreaded this moment, but knew her obligation to the council was binding, and the entire fabric of nature depended on honoring and abiding by these ancient universal laws. If there was any good news, it was that the death sentence would be quick, to be completed in one hundred human years, or rather a mere split second in God’s time.
Terra retreated alone, and moved into deep meditation. In her enlightened state, she saw many faces of love, including death, and destruction. Intention was key, and extinction could be justified with a noble reason, and for an indisputable greater good.
As one teardrop fell from her eye, she orchestrated and completed a vicious hundred years of human destruction. She first released a deadly virus, then massive rains and floods, then fires, drought, famine, until only a minority of humans remained. Sadly, she finished off the rest with volcanoes and earthquakes until her task was finally complete.
When Terra returned to the council to report on her progress, the elders were pleased, as the longstanding human issue had finally been resolved, and there would now be peace and stability in the universe.
